BIO

Paola Davila was born in Oaxaca, Mexico in 1980. She has a BA in Visual Arts (UNAM) among numerous studies in Photography and Painting. She has had seven solo exhibitions, and more than thirty group exhibitions in Mexico and abroad.

In 2002, she received the National Photography Award at the Visual Arts Biennial of Yucatan, and the Acquisition Award at the Fourth Arte Libertad Competition. She was awarded with the Foreign Residencies Grant Program by FONCA and the BANFF Centre of Canada in 2009.

During 2010 she worked on a project entitled Interior Seasons sponsored by the Tierney Foundation of New York. She has been awarded with the National Young Artists Grant Program, by FONCA in 2003, 2006 and 2011. In 2014 she did a residency in Austria thanks to the Foreign Residencies Program by FONCA and the Land-Salzburg Künstlerhaus. In 2017 her project Schrebergarten was selected for the International Discoveries VI, curated by FOTOFEST. Her work has been reviewed in numerous art books and publications. She lives and works in Mexico City, where she lectures at Centro University.
